National Records of Scotland (NRS)

Registration of births, marriages, deaths, divorces and adoptions in Scotland, and the Scottish decennial censuses.

Description

The National Records of Scotland (NRS), formed from the merger of the General Register Office for Scotland (GROS) and the National Archives of Scotland (NAS) in April 2011. NRS is responsible for the registration of vital events (i.e. births, marriages, deaths) in Scotland, and are responsible for conducting the Scottish census.

The Statistics & Data section of the site provides access to statistical tables about Scotland's people on a variety of topics:

  • Migration
  • Household estimates/projections
  • Life expectancy
  • Electoral statistics
