Information about accessing Pure How to get access to Pure and request a profile Access to Pure is available to academic staff, non-academic staff, visiting and honorary staff, postgraduate research students and research administration staff. Academic staff Access to Pure is enabled by Colleges/Schools Pure administrators. Academic staff who are classified in research-related job functions, regardless of research independence status, will be given access to a Pure profile as a matter of course and these should have already been enabled for them by the Colleges/Schools. If you are on these contracts and cannot log in to Pure, please contact your College/School Pure administrator. Pure access is connected to assignments in your HR record. If your assignment ends, your access to Pure will expire and your profile will no longer be displayed on Edinburgh Research Explorer. To reinstate your Pure profile, please contact your College/School Pure administrator. Visiting and honorary staff Visiting and honorary staff should request access to Pure from their School HR department. Please refer to your School website for contact details of your School HR department. Pure access is connected to your assignment in the Visitor Registration System (VRS). If your assignment ends, your access to Pure will expire and your profile will no longer be displayed on Edinburgh Research Explorer. To reinstate your access, please contact your School HR department. All other staff; e.g. technicians or professional services staff The University is committed to the general career development of its staff and students and as part of that general development is happy to endorse the creation of Pure profiles for staff who are not given access to a Pure profile as a matter of course Requests for a Pure profile can be made provided there is or will be content, e.g. publications, research-related activities, in Pure that can be linked to the new profile. We recommend that requestors discuss this with their line-managers first. Please use the form below to send a request for access to your College/School/Deanery who will discuss with you your suitability for a Pure profile. Pure access request form for non-academic staff Pure access is connected to assignments in your HR record. To reinstate your Pure profile, please contact your College/School Pure administrator. Postgraduate research students Postgraduate research students have automatic access, with Pure profiles generated via a synchronisation with EUCLID. Student accounts have limited content types available and profiles are not currently displayed on Edinburgh Research Explorer. Please refer to the Postgraduate students page for more information. Research administration staff Research administration staff should request administrative access to Pure by emailing pure@ed.ac.uk. Expand all Collapse all Logging in to Pure Log in to Pure with your University Login (formerly EASE) using your University UUN and password. Log in to Pure Students who also have Pure staff accounts, please make sure that you use your student number and password. If you are already authenticated to any University service with your staff username and password, you will need to log out and then re-log in using your student number and password. Staff who have moved to an honorary post in the University may not have access to their staff UUN and so cannot log in to Pure using this UUN. Please contact your School IT department to check which UUN should be used. To log out from your University Login, please go to the University Login page. Personal User Overview After logging in, the personal user overview page is usually the first screen you will see. It presents a summary of your research profile, helping you to access, explore and add your content to Pure.
