To reduce the number of results to a manageable and relevant set, you can use the options (facets) on the left hand side of the screen. There is a range of options to refine your search: Resource type Limit your search to books, articles, reviews, dissertations, audio visual materials, scores, maps, conference proceedings, journals, technical reports etc Library Select a Library, for example: Main Library, New College, Moray House, ECA Library etc Date Enter a date range or use the slider Author/Creator Limit your results to those by a specific author or authors Subject Limit your results by subject(s) Collection Select to include/exclude certain databases from your results Language Select a language(s) English, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese etc Journal title Select to include/exclude articles from certain journals from your results Boolean *? You can also use the wildcard symbol ? if you are unsure of a spelling or if there is a spelling variation For example, search organi?ation to find results including organisation and organization. What if I cannot find what I am looking for? DiscoverEd searches most of the Library’s subscription content, but not all of it. Notable exceptions include law resources: HeinOnline, LexisLibrary and Westlaw and EBSCO databases. A great deal of EBSCO content can be found using DiscoverEd as it is indexed by other online databases which are available via DiscoverEd. Try using DiscoverEd, but bear in mind that you may have to use the database A-Z list instead. Database A-Z Library Resources Plus When the University Library doesn't provide immediate access, consider using Library Resources Plus. The Library can help staff and students gain access to resources held at other libraries.
