Conservation

Conservators at the CRC work to preserve the collections through both preventive and interventive treatments.

Preventive Conservation inhibits damage to the collections through a variety of activities.

Treatments are carried out to address the physical and chemical effects of damage to the collection.

Musical instruments require regular use to keep them in excellent condition.

The conservation department has a strong outreach programme, which includes hosting volunteers, interns, and student placements from European conservation courses.
