Conservators at the CRC work to preserve the collections through both preventive and interventive treatments. Preventive Conservation Preventive Conservation inhibits damage to the collections through a variety of activities. Interventive Conservation Treatments are carried out to address the physical and chemical effects of damage to the collection. Musical Instruments The preservation of musical instruments demands specialist care. Outreach and Conservation Taster Days The conservation department has a strong outreach programme, which includes hosting volunteers, interns, and student placements from European conservation courses.
