Access and opening hours

Staff and students of the University of Edinburgh have full access and borrowing rights. 

Access to the library is also available to other users but please be aware that during exam periods access may be restricted. 

Please check up-to-date information on the Joining the Library web pages before visiting any library.

Regretfully, members of the public, alumni and other external library members will only be able to enter the library Mon-Fri 9am to 5pm. This includes visiting to collect your first library membership card. There is no access for external members outside these hours.

How to find us

ECA Library is located inside Evolution House on West Port at the west end of the Grassmarket. The library entrance is on the first floor. The books are located on the ground floor but access is through the first floor library entrance.

British Sign Language support

A video relay service is available, enabling British Sign Language users to contact public bodies and vice-versa.

This service operates from 8am to 12 midnight, 7 days a week.
