Description:

IBISWorld is an online industry intelligence solution.  Each of its industry reports provides the most detailed performance data and analysis on the market; supply chain information; forecasts; risk scores; operating strengths and weaknesses; analysis of external drivers; major player market strategies; and industry profit and costs benchmarks. Reports are updated 1-4 times per year depending on how fast moving the industry is ensuring the most up to date research possible.  In addition to coursework/assignments, these reports would be of use to students researching industries for placements, future careers (including start up research) and interview preparation.  A user guide can be downloaded here.

Coverage: Covering over 400 UK industries at SIC L5, over 700 US industries at NAICS L5 and over 400 UK Brexit Imact Statement reports.

IBSS (International Bibliography of Social Science) Online

Description:

Produced by the British Library of Political and Economic Science, International Bibliography of the Social Sciences (IBSS) is an essential online resource for social science and interdisciplinary research focusing on the four core social science subjects of anthropology, economics, politics, and sociology. IBSS includes over 2.5 million bibliographic references to journal articles, books, reviews and selected chapters dating back to 1951. Over 2,800 journals are regularly indexed and some 7,000 book and chapter records are included each year. Abstracts are provided for around 80% of all current journal articles and users can link to the full text of articles in journals subscribed to by the University of Edinburgh.

Illustrated London News

Description:

The Illustrated London News Historical Archive gives students and researchers unprecedented online access to the entire run of the ILN from its first publication on 14 May 1842 to its last in 2003. Each page has been digitally reproduced in full colour and every article and caption is full-text searchable with hit-term highlighting and links to corresponding illustrations. Facsimiles of articles and illustrations can be viewed, printed and saved either individually or in the context of the page in which they appear. Wherever possible Special Numbers covering special events such as coronations or royal funerals have been included.

Image System for Books of Japanese Ruled Period

Description:

The National Taiwan Library has a collection of over 160,000 volumes of unique Japanese books, periodicals and newspapers which were originally stored in the Governor’s Office of the Japanese Government during the Japanese occupation period and the Southern Archives. The Library also holds a collection of 60,000 volumes of Chinese books from the Ming and Qing dynasties. The former collection of Japanese items has been micro-filmed and also partly digitised.

This database provides the digitised books and documents part of the collection, covering a broad range of topics about the old Taiwan, e.g. history, education, politics, economy and production, etc. Items are chiefly in Japanese, some in Chinese and English.

Newspapers and periodicals are found in the separate database of “Image System for Periodicals of Japanese Ruled Period”.

Description:

Description: Immigration: Records of the INS, 1880-1930 presents the investigations made during the massive immigration wave at the turn of the 20th century. The files cover Asian immigration, especially Japanese and Chinese migration, to California, Hawaii, and other states; Mexican immigration to the U.S. from 1906-1930; and European immigration. There are also extensive files on the INS’s regulation of prostitution and white slavery and on suppression of radical aliens.

Independent Labour Party Records, 1893-1960

Description: The Independent Labour Party (ILP) was a British left-wing political party founded in 1893. The ILP was affiliated with the Labour Party from 1906 to 1932. This collection contains minute books, annual reports, committee reports, conference resolutions, and weekly notes for speakers from the party's archive. These documents cover a wide range of subjects, from questions of war and peace to housing and trade unionism. They provide an excellent insight into the early years of the Labour movement in Britain.

Independent Voices

Description:

Independent Voices is an open access digital collection of alternative press newspapers, magazines and journals, drawn from the special collections of participating libraries. These periodicals were produced by feminists, dissident GIs, campus radicals, Native Americans, anti-war activists, Black Power advocates, Hispanics, LGBT activists, the extreme right-wing press and alternative literary magazines during the latter half of the 20th century.

Description: A comprehensive archive of the European literature on all aspects of Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies.
Coverage: From 1906 to current. Over 5000 journals are monitored for inclusion in the database, together with conference proceedings, monographs, multi-authored works and book reviews.  Journals and books are indexed down to the article and chapter level.  Updated monthly.

Description: A service of the Universitatsbibliothek Tubingen, the Index Theologicus (IxTheo) indexes more than 600 theological periodicals, Festschriften and congress publications. There is approximately 60% duplication with ATLA, but this index covers European journals not indexed elsewhere.

Index of Medieval Art

Description:

The Index of Medieval Art houses, contextualizes, and presents images and information relating to the iconographic traditions of the medieval world. Originally called the Princeton Index of Christian Art, reflecting its beginnings as a focused resource for the study of early Christian art, the Index now sets its parameters more broadly, including works from multiple medieval faith traditions as well as secular imagery.

As of 1 July 2023, the Index is accessible without a subscription.

Description: Use IPM to find individual pieces of music printed in standard scholarly editions. With over 425,000 records available for searching, IPM provides detailed indexing across a range of categories, including collection, composer, editor, format, genre, language, librettist, publication year etc. It is also possible to search for titles of music collections, as well as individual compositions.

Indianapolis Star

Description: LEARN ABOUT THE 1903 train wreck involving the Purdue University football team, relive the excitement of the town’s first 500-mile automobile race in 1911, explore local coverage of one of the most lauded speeches of the 20th century, delivered by Robert F. Kennedy following the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in 1968. These iconic moments in history are among the people and events covered in The Indianapolis Star, the largest paper in Indiana, and a staunch a watchdog and advocate for its community. Three times it has been honored with a Pulitzer Prize — once for meritorious public service and twice for investigative reporting. In 1975, the Star was honored for its 1974 series on corruption within the Indianapolis Police Department. It was cited again in 1991 for its 1990 series on medical malpractice. Serious researchers and casual readers alike also will be interested in the photographs and illustrations captured in this historical newspaper’s pages.

Iran: The Making of U.S. Policy 1977-1980

Description:

As Iran continues to generate global security concerns, the need to understand the roots of the U.S.-Iran relationship remains critical.  More than 14,000 pages of documents are offered on United States policy towards Iran and events in Iran during the period from January 20, 1977, to January 29, 1980. This collection covers the Carter administration's relationship with the Shah; the seizing of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran and the holding of its diplomatic personnel as hostages in late 1979; popular protests and mass demonstrations that climaxed in the Iranian revolution; and failed efforts by the U.S. and the provisional government to normalize relations.  The collection includes a major internal Carter administration review of U.S.-Iranian relations, as well as an extraordinary collection of foreign policy memoranda and cables that were seized from the U.S. embassy in November 1979 and published in Tehran as "The Documents from the Den of Espionage.”

Description: The documents in this collection include every exhibit released by the official investigations of the Iran-Contra Affair, including the Senate Intelligence Committee, the Tower Commission, the joint select Congressional committees, and the Independent Counsel. Iran-Contra focuses on the period from Fall 1983, when Congress first put limits on official U.S. assistance to the Contras, to the criminal indictments of Oliver North, Richard Secord, and Albert Hakim in Spring 1988.
