Borrowing DVD and Blu-Ray players

EdHelp provide DVD and Blu-Ray players for loan from most Library sites. This service is available for University of Edinburgh students, staff and official visitor staff (blue card holders) only.

Borrowing DVD players

DVD players are available for loan at all library sites except for the Noreen and Kenneth Murray Library where DVDs can be played on the PCs in the uCreate section. You can also borrow Blu-Ray players from the Main Library and ECA Library. All players are on Short Loan (7 days).

DVD players can be borrowed from EdHelp service desks. Each DVD player will be handed out with an instruction guide that should be returned along with the DVD player.

Yellow card holders are not eligible for this service.

About the DVD Collection

The Library has an extensive collection of DVDs that includes current and classic films, documentaries, anime, animation DVDs, artist's film works and over 600 Chinese films. The largest collections are located in the Main Library and Edinburgh College of Art Library (Level 1).

Use DiscoverEd to search for available titles (tip: limit your search to Resource Type ‘Video’).

The Library buys DVDs when a film required for course teaching is not available via streaming media.

DVDs can be borrowed by students, staff and official visitor staff (blue card holders). Yellow card holders with borrowing rights may also borrow DVDS but there may be restrictions on HUB Short Loan and Reserve items.
