This is a service for University of Edinburgh students only. Laptops can be borrowed from the EdHelp service desks at all library sites. In addition, there are self-service laptop cabinets in the Main Library and the Noreen and Kenneth Murray Library. Borrowing laptops This service operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Laptops cannot be reserved.Laptops can be borrowed for a maximum of 28 days. They cannot be renewed after this period, either online or in person.All laptops come with a carry case, power cable, adaptor and information sheet.Laptops must be returned to the library from which they were borrowed.If you need a laptop for a longer period and are in a situation of financial hardship please consider our Medium and long term laptop loan service. Medium and long term laptop loan service for students in hardship EdHelp service desks Laptops can be borrowed from the EdHelp service desks at all library sites during opening hours. Library locations and opening hours Self-service laptop cabinets The self-service laptop cabinets are available at the following library sites:Main Library – in the High Use Books (HUB) Collection, located on the Ground FloorNoreen and Kenneth Murray Library – on the first floorStudents need to register for a library PIN at a EdHelp service desk. Once registered, EdHelp staff can guide you through using the self-service cabinet for the first time or you can follow the instructions on the self-service cabinets. Terms and conditions Laptops can be borrowed for a maximum of 28 days. They cannot be renewed after this period, either online or in person.The laptop is for your sole use and must not be transferred.Fines will be charged £6 per day for late returns, so make sure to leave enough time to return it.The laptop and all loaned accessories must be returned to the EdHelp service desk you borrowed them from by the due date.**Any correspondence will be sent by email to your University account.Theft, loss or damage to the laptop or accessories may result in charges for repair, or replacement. Please report any theft, loss or damage immediately to EdHelp.You are responsible for the safety and security of the laptop and accessories whilst the machine is on loan to you. Please do not leave it unattended.**Note: at Main Library Reception there is a limited capacity to store laptops brought for return when the EdHelp service desk is closed. These cannot be renewed and will remain on your library record until checked and discharged by EdHelp staff. You will not be able to borrow another laptop until this is done.
