How to recover your DiscoverEd Saved Searches

This page provides instructions on how to recover your DiscoverEd Saved Searches

TEXT TO BE UPDATED

DiscoverEd is moving to a new platform on Tuesday 8th June.  This will enable closer integration with our Alma Library Management System and with our Resource Lists service and will lead to future improvements to the DiscoverEd service.

You will notice very few changes to DiscoverEd when the switch takes place.  DiscoverEd will look identical and searches will run in the same way.

Any Saved Items that you have stored in My Favourites will be migrated to the new platform and any permalinks you have saved will continue to work.   Note that it may take up to 24 hours for all Saved Items to be copied across to the new platform.

Please note that Saved Searches, Alerts and RSS Feeds WILL NOT be migrated and you will need to take action before 8th June if you wish to retain these.

How to retain your Saved Searches, Alerts and RSS Feeds

If you wish to retain your Saved Searches, Alerts and RSS feeds you must take the following action by the 7th June:

  1. Sign in to DiscoverEd.
  2. Select Saved Items from the menu and then select the SAVED SEARCHES tab.
  3. Review your Saved Searches, Alerts and RSS feeds and take a note of those that you wish to keep.  You can copy and paste the search terms into a Word document or similar.

After the 8th June you will need to add each Saved Search to your My Favourites manually as follows:

  1. Sign in to DiscoverEd.
  2. Run each search by entering the search terms into the DiscoverEd search box.
  3. Use the Save this search to My Favourites option to save each search.
  4. If you wish to set up an alert for a search, select the Turn on notification for this query option.  You will be prompted to enter the email address where you wish the alert emails to be sent.
  5. If you wish to create an RSS feed for a search you must go to the SAVED SEARCHES tab in My Favourites and use the Set an RSS for this search button to create the feed.
