Census Data Support Unit: Census Flow Data

Access information: Available on and off-campus from WICID (the Web-based Interface to Census Interaction Data). Choose Login via UK Federation. Registration is required. Follow the registration link for details.
Description: Census flow data (also known as interaction data) relate to flows of people between places, both origins and destinations.
Coverage: Migration and commuting data from the 1981, 1991, 2001 and 2011census data.

Description: The service provides access and support for a range of historical datasets, promoting and facilitating increased and more effective use of data in research, learning and teaching.

Description: Eurostat is the statistical office of the European Union.  It provides the European Union with statistics at European level that enable comparisons between countries and regions.

IBISWorld

Description:

IBISWorld is an online industry intelligence solution.  Each of its industry reports provides the most detailed performance data and analysis on the market; supply chain information; forecasts; risk scores; operating strengths and weaknesses; analysis of external drivers; major player market strategies; and industry profit and costs benchmarks. Reports are updated 1-4 times per year depending on how fast moving the industry is ensuring the most up to date research possible.  In addition to coursework/assignments, these reports would be of use to students researching industries for placements, future careers (including start up research) and interview preparation.  A user guide can be downloaded here.

Coverage: Covering over 400 UK industries at SIC L5, over 700 US industries at NAICS L5 and over 400 UK Brexit Imact Statement reports.

International Monetary Fund (IMF) eLibrary

Access information:

Access on and off campus.

Description:

Direct access to the IMF’s periodicals, books, working papers and studies, and data and statistical tools. Includes  information and perspective on macroeconomics, globalization, development, trade and aid, technical assistance, demographics, emerging markets, policy advice and poverty reduction.

Note Although free to all from 1st January 2020, some features require creation of a personal account.

Description:

Mintel Reports provides market research reports on a range of UK consumer and industrial products and services.

Coverage: Reports on Beauty and Personal Care; Drink; Food; Leisure; Retail Overview; Technology    Report sections can be printed or downloaded, but it is not possible to print or download entire reports. 

Mintel Trends provides reports on shifts in consumer behaviour by industry, demographic, theme and region.

OECD iLibrary

Description:

Subscribed resources available via the iLibrary include the OECD/IEA Energy iLibrary, OECD Observer and OECD Economic Surveys.

The iLibrary also provides access to a substantial amount of free content, including the OECD Factbook, OECD Working Papers, Key Tables, Multilingual Summaries and most 'At a Glance' publications.

Roper iPoll

Description: The Roper Center for Public Opinion Research is one of the world's leading archives of social science data, specialising in data from surveys of public opinion. The data held by the Roper Center range from the 1930s to the present. Most of the data are from the United States, but over 50 nations are represented. You can search for datasets by keyword, country, surveying agency, timeframe and type of sample.
Note: Some datasets require a separate agreement with the individual researcher(s) requesting access and are unrelated to institutional membership.Specific requirements vary across studies.
