Discover what is and isn't included in the Edinburgh Diamond service. Included in the Service A hosting platform A home for you to publish your content. We use open-source software Open Journal System (OJS) for journals and Open Monograph Press (OMP) for books. Ongoing technical support We provide technical support as needed, including migrations of archived content, upgrades, bug fixes and day-to-day maintenance. Permanent identifiers We issue ISSNs, ISBNs and DOIs through the Library's respective membership accounts with the British Library, Nielsen and Crossref. Digital preservation We digitally preserve the content in-house, through the PKP Preservation Network, and through memberships with LOCKSS and CLOCKSS. Publishing policies and guidance Edinburgh Diamond provides appropriate industry-standard policies, including a publication ethics statement and a digital preservation policy. We also provide advice and best practice guidelines on issues pertaining to academic publishing, including copyright, permissions, publishing workflow guidance and publishing best practice. Indexing We submit books and journals to relevant indexing databases to increase visibility and discoverability. We also help prepare your book or journal to ensure it meets eligibility criteria for the various indexing databases. Annual reports Edinburgh Diamond will provide an annual report detailing article downloads, website traffic, journal- and article-level metrics, citations and other information. We will help you track ongoing performance and help you gain an understanding of the various metrics and how to measure success. Please note, the Library may make appropriate use of the statistical data. Additionally, journals users receive: Flexible publishing workflow system Edinburgh Diamond uses the latest version of Open Journal Systems (OJS), a web-based journal management and publishing platform used by over 9,000 journals worldwide. OJS can be used either to manage the full editorial workflow, including submission and peer review, or just for publishing online. Using OJS requires minimal technical expertise and full training and guidance will be given. Find out more about OJS capabilities Not Included in the Service Workflow management We ensure our editors retain full editorial control over their journals. This means we do not help with submission or peer review management. Journal editors are responsible for coordinating and managing the workflow for their journal. Copy-editing, typesetting & proofreading At this time, Edinburgh Diamond is unable to offer copy-editing, typesetting or proofreading services. We will, however, work with you to identify potential income streams to assist with sourcing these services yourself.
