Main Library lockers

There are lockers on the Ground Floor, Floor 1 and Floor 5 in the Main Library which can be rented by University of Edinburgh students. 

To rent a locker please apply in person at the EdHelp Service desk in the Main Library. Lockers are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

All keys must be returned at the end of the academic year - keys cannot be renewed. 

Charges

A refundable deposit of £20 will be required for the key - this will be added to Library fines on your library record when you come to collect a key, and can be paid online via your DiscoverEd account http://Discovered.ed.ac.uk

Deposits must be paid before a key is issued. This deposit will only be reimbursed on return of the key at the end of the session. Users who have lost a key will lose their deposit as will users who return their key late.

Paying deposits:

• Go to http://Discovered.ed.ac.uk
• Click on 'Sign In' at the top right hand side of the page.
• Click on the 'University Login Users' option.
• Once logged in, you should see your name at the top of this page - click on the arrow next to your name and then choose 'My Account' from the drop-down menu.
• You will be shown your personal library account which will include any books you have on loan, historic loans, requests you have made, fines and any potential fines if you have overdue books.
• Click on the “Pay all fines/fees” link in order to pay all of your fines and fees

'Daytime' use lockers

A small number of lockers on the Ground Floor are available for 'daytime' use for University staff and students only. Keys will be issued for the day and are to be returned by 9am the next morning. Please ask at the EdHelp Service desk for details.

Lockers for disabled students

There are a limited number of lockers on the Ground Floor and First Floor which have been set aside for disabled students. These lockers are allocated by arrangement with the Disability & Learning Support Service.

Terms and conditions

If using the lockers in the Main Library please abide by the following regulations:

• • By using a locker you are agreeing to abide by Edinburgh University Library regulations and that the locker is for your sole use.
  • You further agree not to store books which are not charged to your record in the locker and that staff may open the locker at any time to ensure compliance with this regulation.
  • No food to be stored in the locker.
  • A deposit of £20 will be added to your Library fines to be paid online.
  • Rental Lockers must be returned by:
    • UGs 31 May                                                          
    • PGs 31 August
  • Lost keys or keys not returned by the due date will result in loss of £20 deposit. All belongings in the locker will be disposed of.
